It began with a little girl who loved animals. As a child, owner of Kruger Big 5 Safaris, Cindy, dreamed of one day having a career that would take her into nature.
Passionate about animals and nature, Cindy’s love of wildlife lived on, even when her dreams of working with/ in nature were sacrificed on the altar of
adult responsibilities to family. But, her love of the wild never diminished, and Cindy and her husband Marc, shared this mutual love with their daughter Candy.
As a result, Cindy and Candy qualified as guides together, and are both inspired by a strong desire to bring the wonders of the wild alive for their guests.
This is the ethos at the core of Kruger Big 5 Safaris – to make the Kruger Park experience available to guests from around the country and the world,
and to make each adventure unforgettable.
Contrary to the name “Kruger Big 5 Safaris”, Cindy and Candy believe the experience is not just about the iconic Big 5. Seeing the Big 5 roam freely in their own territories is wonderful, of course. But there is so much more to see, learn and savour…
Like seeing crocodiles bask in the midday sun on the sandbanks close to the hippo pools, with the buzz of the sun beetles vibrating loudly in the bush. Or, the unmistakable cry of the fish eagle before it dives into the water, talons forward, to catch its lunch. Not to mention the lament of the emerald spotted wood dove as it run-walks as if searching for something it lost. You might also encounter an industrious dung beetle, a steadfast leopard tortoise, or a heron surfing on a hippo’s back. There is magic in every moment for those who have open hearts and eyes to see.
In Cindy’s own words, “When you lay your head to rest after one of our excursions that day, we hope that you’ll come to realize that you were part of a team, a family, where experiencing nature at its best is not a normal every day job to us, but a love and passion that you were very much a part of”.
